Well, I just read the SEC Football thread and thought it needed to be continued since the lock-down. I've got two words, Go Dawgs!
That was some intense reading over there on the other thread, but it is mild compared to being in the student section with a bunch of drunks.
Kurt, you let me know when you think that it is fair for UGA to call playing football in the Swamp, "nuetral field." ;-)
Hey, did anyone notice whether or not UGA won this past weekend -- I was working. ;-)

Poor Jen-ay, just let it happen girl, don't resist. Drink the koolaid. You are used to round balls having grown up here in KY(and what with the starter husband and all). It seems that while round balls are popular here and in Indiana, the farther south you go the balls change shape, becoming pointed on the ends. This is a due to the force of gravity or the Bermuda triangle or something like that. I believe I read this in National Geogrpahic, anyhoo embrace the football, first downs are your friends...do not be afraid. You can be Switzerland for a awhile and remain neutral while you decide who is worthy of your cheers.
Thanks Cheering. Switzerland is a good place. The Swiss Army, cheese, and all that. I will stay there. Wonder if 30 gAy knows any of the Swiss Army guys?

If he does I bet he doesn't share.
I'm about to leave for the day. Heading to Garden Ridge and back to the southend before the crazed ST X - Trinity fans try to get into the stadium for the big game.

I am an effing genius for cheering for UF.Win or lose, I love my Gators.
As far as crazy goes, G?del showed that provability is a weaker notion than truth, no matter what axiom system is involved. So, how can you figure out if you are sane? Once you begin to question your own sanity, you get trapped in an ever-tighter vortex of self-fulfilling prophecies, though the process is by no means inevitable. Everyone knows that the insane interpret the world via their own peculiarly consistent logic; how can you tell if your own logic is "peculiar" or not, given that you have only your own logic to judge itself?
Screw that. I'm not crazy for cheering for the Gators.![]()
SJ, you crack me up!

He was probably standing in front of the mirror, or maybe he is dyslexic. Heck, with that order of the letters, maybe they are all dyslexic. He's probably from Alabama.

All I know about Football comes from that "In Living Color" skit, Men on Football:30g...I am laughing my tight end off!!!
Antoine Marryweather: [Antoine is explaining football to Dwayne] Ok, now, you're going to be the center. So take this ball, bend over and I'm going to walk up right behind you and put my hands between your legs.
Dwayne Edwards: OOOH! I think I may have played this game before
:funn:
The extra letters are probably back-ups because they know at least one of the A's will drink til he passes out and falls down between the seats.SJ...I am laughing my tight end off!

Oh 30gAy you would love it. They all wear tight pants. Most of the time the quaterback plays "under center" instead of shotgun, (that's nice hand placement for you), and they even have tight ends. Someone is always slapping someone elses butt. What more can you ask for??
That's right 30gAy. What other game can you go in as a tight end and come out as a wide receiver.

Now that you bring this up, I always wondered why Auburn is both the War Eagles and the Tigers. But then Alabama is the Crimson Tide with an elephant mascot.![]()
MIT has two mascots as well -- the Engineers and the Beavers :funn: . When my daughter was at MIT, we loaded up on MIT Beaver sweatshirts, etc. We always get comments when we wear them. I can't imagine why.
BR-
Auburn has never been the War Eagles. Just tigers. War Eagle is sort of a 'battle cry' that we scream for a reason I don't feel like typing out. Calling Auburn the War Eagles would be like calling Alabama the "Roll Tides".
LSU fans smell like corn dogs. I don't know why, they just do. But they can party like nothing you've ever seen.
Kurt,
Do we have a game time for the FL/Auburn game?

BR-Thanks for the partial explanation. I can extrapolate from there.

As far as LSU fans go, dunno about the corn dogs. That's not exactly Cajun cuisine. I would understand if you thought they smelled like andouille, crawfish, or beer -- that's how we smelled when we were at Tulane. :funn:
I, too, am anxious to hear when the UF/AU game will be and on what network it will be televised. Still trying to get tickets, but if I can't and can watch the game on my portable TV, I might attend the SoWal par-tay. That is, if I can talk Mr. Dr. BR into it.

That game worries me to death so it might be a good idea if I don't get to watch it.

To get through that game I'll be like Busta. PASS THE COURVOISIER or, in my case, chardonnay.

There are many ways that are undetectable by gate security to transport adult beverages into a game. It was all around us at the GT game last night. I'm not advocating this; I'm just stating that this is easily done. In our case this was unnecessary because we have club seats at GT, and the wine and beer are free in the clubhouse.

Whew- I thought you were breaking the law!!
I was escorted out of the USC stadium - caught with a little bourbon. The police officer asked me to follow him, so I followed him about halfway down the steps, then just turned around and went back up to my seat. He didn't come back after me.
That would not have been a funn phone call to my parents.SoWal Expert

SJ schooled me on these methods a while back.

Please don't try to get the Aubbies to explain it. It is always a rambling speech on how they are really the Plainsmen, officially the Tigers, only yell War Eagle and had a goat mascot at one time too. Just accept it as the nonsense that it is.;-) In contrast, Alabama actually can answer the question of mascot dicotomy in two to three sentences, and it makes sense.
Skunky! I'm gone for ONE DAY! And look what you do!?!?

i hear ya sister, kinda cramps our style doesn't it ?I pretty much have to keep a lid on my wild streak because I never know who is watching. When you've been a college professor as long as I have been, there are a lot of people who know you and notice you, but you don't remember them. In math terms it's a one-to-many relationship.
I used to feel pretty incognito in SoWal. But now so many Georgians are there that I can't even go to the Seagrove Publix with nappy hair or stinky after running and not be embarrassed by seeing someone I know.
But when I swim naked in Barcelona, I promise you that no one except my husband knows me.

Back on thread: that is, unless I wear a Gator t-shirt.
