Mr. Pod left today for a 10-day business trip, I'm hosting a slumber party for seven 10-year-old girls tonight, following being in charge of an 8th grade chili fundraiser at our school's fall festival.

OK, almost a week in, and today's the first day they almost made me cry. I can't decide if I've done a heckuva job or if I'm a wimp.
And, Miss Kitty, I unilaterally decided that 10 days and 4 kids trumps 3 weeks and 2 kids. I feel better now.
As you were.

Take my word for it regarding the replies: 'Alcohol, alcohol, alcohol'--there is nothing more disturbing to children than the morphing manner of someone as they drink alcohol.
In fact that advice has never actually worked--it might make for an 'easier' evening, but the next day..dealing with the same stuff is that much harder. I have several children and have tried it both ways. I realize the comments are light-hearted and intended to be fun more than anything. But bottom-line, kids and booze just don't mix. FRIENDS don't let friends DRINK AND EXPEDITE SLEEP-OVERS...HA!!:rolling:

ALMOST cried. That's pretty good. I used to cry once a week, at least! And I only have one!! (Maybe he's the reason I never had more. ;-))

And I have to agree with the post re: alcohol and parenting don't mix, coming from an adult child of 2 alcoholic parents. It all gets better after awhile.

First of all parenting ain't for wimps so I say you're doing a heckuva job. :clap_1: Pray they all stay healthy!!! My sister's having her first experience with both kids and the hubby having the stomach flu! I feel for her but we've all been there and once she gets through it she'll feel like she can survive anything. I hope so anyway. She doesn't handle stress well at all. Hangin there Pea, just a few more days to go!!!

You win Pea....or maybe it's You lose Pea. :idontno: ;-) When is this marathon over? Is your trip to SoWal the prize if everyone survives?

Actually, I think it's a tie once you factor in number of kids and number of days--we both win! (Or lose, but I think I'd rather not be in the "contest"!)
It is over Monday, and, yes--I'm looking at my trip as my prize. I told John R yesterday the topic of kids is off-limits that weekend.
