I will. It seems that not having press conferences and limiting what questions you answer when you do is an effective tactic. By giving speeches you have the opportunity to avoid controversy and stay on message. As much asI dislike Governor Scott, he has played the card for almost 6 years with success. That Scott was elected and reelected by a camel's hair illustrates the quality of his adversaries and the war chest Scott had at his beck and call to eke out those "victories". This fellow's approach has been to marginalize public education and accelerate white flight to religious schools. Tenure, or more correctly, continuing contract is unrelated to this topic The idea to try to tie pay to test scores is a purple fog to continue the beatdown. My wife has seen her school undergo a tectonic demographic shift in the past 8 years. School boundries have shifted slightly, and the white flight has filled in the rest. Test scores for the school have headed south, and I can assure you the teachers are working harder,longer hours with an adversarial relationship from both the County and Tallahassee. The idea of education is to give children a base and to create thinkers, not robotically teach how to take tests. Nor is it realistic to expect an administrator to go from class to class and have the exact same instruction happening at once. The biggest educational fraud ever perpetrated on Florida was the imposition of the Marzano method of teaching. I'll discuss Marzano all day long if you wish.
