That total, though, appears to include official trips of Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama, as well as some campaign-related travel that was partially reimbursed by the Democratic Party.
In just two and a half years as of August 3, 2019 Trump has spent $110.3 million total just for travel to and from golf vacations. This does not include any official or campaign travel.
I stand firmly on two legs.

Watching a Trump campaign speech last night on a flight, he kept repeating complete inaccuracies about the wall being built in San Diego. The wall was slated for replacement since 2009 and funded by Congress in 2017. Trump's wall? He went on to say how the mayor of San Diego "flew to DC to thank him". Completely not true and the mayor was meeting with him because of Mexican sewage drifting into the bay. He repeated this probably five times. The Chinese have paid billions to the US in tariffs (Cheeto's favorite lie). US companies that import goods have paid billions, Americans are paying more for Chinese made products. Then he goes into how much the US farmers and ranchers support the China tarrifs. Everything that I have read, the farmers are losing their asses with flooding and tarrifs. I have seen the "we want free trade, not aid" tag line swirling around.
We signed a bill in 2016, Countering Foreign Propaganda and Disinformation Act. I am not sure but I think it is time to add Homeland to the bill. Sad to think that if it was a foreign person or government using the same tactics as Trump that there is a law to try to protect us, but not so from our own government.

All of that to say that I still haven't seen any ideas from the Democrats, or candidates for that matter, that really shake the bushes. Not a Clinton or Obama among them. Front runners for change typically aren't septuagenarians.
Safe to say I think we will see this thread perpetuate for another six years.

I see the Democrats coming out for health care reform, financial systems reform, tax reform, climate change reforms, gun control, combatting Russian espionage, and changing the culture of corruption in Washington. You just ain’t paying attention. Will this hurt your pocket book? Some. Will this make us a better nation? Obviously. If you think going to war with Iran because Saudi Arabia says to, even though Obama helped make America the leading producer of oil in the world, you might be a Republican.

I see a lot of opposite direction pendulum swings being proposed. Especially with corporate tax, healthcare and environmental. We need to get back to somewhere near the center first. Maybe it is Goldilocks thinking, but there is a range that is just right.

As the power of television has increased, our attention spans have dwindled. Would I ever read the entire Mueller Report? Never. Would I read any of Elizabeth Warren’s Plans. Nope. Would I switch to Netflix if Bernie started tapping on CNN. Most likely. Since our problems started getting evermore complex, our need for charismatic leaders has increased immensely. The irony is that one of our best, Joe Biden, is having to compete, not against the other candidates, but against his former self. The others are all quite amazing smart people, but still young and unproven. But any one of them are better than anything the Republican Party has shown in the last 11 years.

I like this thread because it's real easy to forget all the incidents of unacceptable behavior by our president. There have been so many I have lost track. It's so overwhelming, sometimes I have trouble naming something off the top of my head. This thread is a wonderful reference. It's a journal of the last three years of hell we've had to endure. If I had the time, I would start at the beginning and compose a s**t list.

I think the latest stunt going back after kavanaugh is the straw that's going to break their backs. All the presidential candidates that called for impeachment, without one bit of evidence or checking the story. They are history and loss all hopes of making it. I just love the hole they are digging for themselves. Let's start a list. 1 lowest unemployment 2 lowest number of people on welfare. 3 trade back in hands of US. 4. Increase in minority jobs. 5. I'm not just looking for current offenses by the sociopath in chief, which is all you're going to get from news sources. I'm more interested in looking back at the last 2-3 years and compiling a list of things that really matter to me personally. This thread is the perfect source of such information.

As for when the "demise" began, I would add two other events that preceeded the TV remote, but one did not preceed the TV:
1. December 23, 1913 (after many in Congress had taken their trains home for Christmas): Federal Reserve Act. Federal Reserve Act - Wikipedia Even it's name is deceptive. It is neither "federal" (owned by private international banks) and there is no reserve (they create money out of thin air in the form of currency and numbers on a screen) Here is how OUR dollars' value has declined since the Fed came about:
2. 1963. Two SCOTUS rulings were handed down in 1963 and since then over 70 social metrics have steadily declined. Add to that the 1989 ruling that outlawed prayer before school events, namely football games. Push God out, and look where we are today....coincidence????

Good luck trying to get the god genie out of the bottle in today's highly secularized society, fueled largely by the Internet. Large numbers of today's students and parents would never stand for mandatory prayer in public schools. They would be justifiably outraged.
