The Parade of Homes, sponsored by the Building Industry Association of Okaloosa and Walton Counties, offers builders the opportunity to showcase their work. While there are 82 homes, a record number of this year?s Parade, Walton County leads the event with 32 homes.
The Parade takes place June 17 ? 25. Located from Navarre to the Bay County line and north to Baker, the homes will be open on weekends from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. and on weekdays from 1 ? 6 p.m. All homes will remain open until 8 p.m. on June 22 for the Twilight Tour.
Featured Neighborhoods this year are Hammock Bay in Freeport, Trailwood Estates and Heritage Manor in Crestview, Piney Woods in Baker and Plantation Oaks in Mary Esther.
All of the homes are new and have never been occupied. Many of the homes are furnished.
Here?s a sampling of homes that will be on display in South Walton.
SUMMER RIDGE SOUTH
With four homes per acre, there will only be 12 homes in Summer Ridge South. Summer House is the model featured in the Parade of Homes, with 2,469 square feet heated and cooled, the home is $795,000.
?Summer Ridge South is unique in South Walton. Most developments are vacation rental, few developers build small gated neighborhoods,? said Sun Cor Development?s Jim Benson, the developer and builder. ?Ours is a small gated community with lots and homes designed for permanent residents and non-rental second homes.?
Each home has a double detached garage with carriage house that is connected to the main house through a private courtyard.
?The courtyards offer a real sense of mystery,? said Benson.
It?s part of his concept, ?procession and arrival? ? from arriving at the entrance of the gated community, to the driveway, proceeding through the gate and down the walkway to the courtyard, ?It?s the mystery of getting to your front door.?
Once inside, the quality and detail continue throughout the home. The 12-foot high cypress ceiling in the great room is a signature of each Sun Cor home. The home has a master bedroom suite and sitting room that fills the third floor. There are two bedrooms each on the first and second floors.
The two-car garage was not an original feature of the home, however the buyer requested the carport be converted to a garage, which started a trend in the development, said Bill Livingston, vice president of construction for John Willis Homes.
There?s no beach access, but the developers have arranged shuttle service to Topsail and nearby public beach access.
The 44-acre gated community has 167 home sites. Cypress Dunes is on the west end of County Road 30A.
