We lost a number of valuable pieces of equipment in a direct lightning hit on the station's antenna and equipment room yesterday. If you were ever considering donating to 30A Radio, now would be a good time. Click on the "Donate" button on our website or mail donations to: 30A Radio, PO Box 4610, Santa Rosa Beach, FL 32459

Thanks for your help.

Danny,

I own a condo in Blue Mountain Beach, but in my "work life" I'm general manager of a public radio network in Kentucky. If you can provide me a list of equipment needs, I could see if we have some "used" stuff to help out.

Thanks, guys. We lost an air conditioner and an FM receiver that I use to monitor the radio output while troubleshooting, among other things. I was able to repair the rest of the gear lost except for one of our ancient Marti microwave receivers. We're broadcasting in mono right now.

We would like to come into the late 20th century and replace all 4 of our Marti units, but the cost is about $11,000 dollars.

I've been told by several broadcast engineers that we are treading on thin ice with our old units - they were invented and first marketed in 1947. And that we need to go digital, which the rest of the broadcast industry has been for many years.

I'm going to have the old Marti repaired and we can limp through, but I'd love to get the new equipment and use the Martis for a complete stereo backup system when troubles like this occur. It would also bump up the sonic integrity of 30A Radio several notches.

Any help is greatly appreciated and tax deductible.
