DD, I thought of you many times today. What a glorious day in SoWal! Finally took my johnboat out. Hadn't been out for months for various reasons. Longtime friend from Atlanta is down for the week with her mom for Mother's Day. She called to say she was in town and asked what was up. Asked her if she was up for a trip to the north end of Eastern Lake, and she quickly answered affirmative. The weather was perfect, winds only about 5 - 10 mph this afternoon. Blue sky, just a few clouds for interest. We rowed up to the north end of Eastern Lake. Absolute perfection!! A bonus is the old historic bridge is out more than I've seen in years. Everyone with a kayak or row boat needs to get up there and see this. Or you can go on the Eastern Lake hiking trail or Cassine Trail. Both end at the picnic table and you can see the old bridge. The western branch on the north end has far less rush, sedges and reeds than it has in the past few years, so much more of the bridge is visible. DD -- let me know when your next trip is and I do hope to make this excursion with you. Rowing back against the wind was not so easy for this out of shape gal, but a little Advil and Chardonnay go a long way to ease the situation.
