Accident at 98/ Bay Dr.

Bad wreck at the corner of Bay Dr. and 98. Westbound ran light hitting southbound. Westbound lanes blocked according to FHP.

There was also a bad wreck on 30a. Child injured.

Anyone know why the FHP would work a wreck on a County Road?

Don't we have a traffic unit? Didn't we just order a bunch of new patrol cars?

I am confused.

He may have been the closest. A FHP trooper has been patrolling Western Lake almost every Sunday, and busting people, consistently, for driving over 25MPH.

Pretty sure FHP is called in if the accident involves injuries or damages are over $500.
Also an update according to WMBB ...."UPDATE: The identities of the victims of a rollover accident in Walton County have been released.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the accident occurred around 3:30 p.m. Sunday when a Ford SUV traveling west on Highway 98 ran the red light at the intersection of County Road 283. The vehicle clipped a white sedan entering the intersection and rolled over several times.
The driver of the SUV, 24-year-old Erick Xithe Duran of Panama City Beach sustained minor injuries, as did two children, ages 4 and 7. A passenger in the SUV, 27-year-old Nicasio Ramirez, was airlifted to Bay Medical Sacred Heart by helicopter. The driver of the other vehicle, 50-year-old Vanessa Petrea of Santa Rosa Beach, sustained minor injuries. The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate the accident."

I rarely see anyone pulled over here in South Walton. If the WCSO would be more proactive on speeding violations, I feel sure the red-light-running would decrease as well as accidents. People drive like they're on the track at Talladega around here

My now deceased wife was stopped on 393 for doing 30 in a 25 mile zone. Don't tell me the WCSO doesn't ticket speeders.
