I gotta tell ya, this was fun  . We survived :D !!!!! We didn't stick around for the official results so I don't know where we placed. I'm guessing in the top 50% but I may be disappointed. We finished is 3hrs 38min (I think. I was a little mentally and physically drained after the event  ). Here are some pics:

First they surprised us by taking all our manditory gear (basically our camel backs with all the gear and water) and placed them a the 2nd check point  . The made us swim across the lake (nothing about a swim on the race info :dunno: ) Oh well we did it, yes shoes, socks, shirts and worst of all bike shorts   .

Next we ran / hiked for 3 or 4 miles (really I'm not sure) here is us coming over the bridge to the transition area:

Then we got on our bikes (never so happy to see my mtn bike) and rode for just over 10 miles on single track through the woods. Some pics of getting on the bike and some of us returning to the transition area:

Giving the kids a thumbs up as the cheered us on

A surprise physical challange

And then there was the 3 mile paddle (the event I thought would be the easiest)....... I could not have been more incorrect :bang: :bang: :bang:

A final note. I really had a blast. Very challanging but I'm already looking into another in September. We all drove ourselves well past the limits we mentally put on ourselves. I felt suprisingly good after the event. Today I as sore as I can be. BUT I look forward to the next race.

:clap_1::clap_1::clap_1: Congratulations, RO! That is so cool. For someone like yourself who likes only boats with big motors, you sure took on a big challenge. Good job! love the pics.

Great job on the race! It sounds like a lot of fun. Last coule of years, there's been a fall run/bike/paddle race in Seaside I've heard good things about, but I'm not sure if it's on the calendar again this year.

Tip - if you have 3 in a canoe only 2 should paddle.

That was the most frustering part. When we hit the lake we were well ahead of the pack. After a mile into the paddle we were getting passed on a regular basis. (you can imagine how that went over with me :bang: :bang: :D ). We finally found our groove and started passing others but it was so frusterating :bang: . All the teams had all 3 paddling. We carried quite a bit a weight in our boat  and that is a speed killer! We'll experiment with the two man thing and see how that goes  .

Something to look in to. Sounds like a road biking event thought. I don't own one :dunno: and have no technique :D
