In a letter from the Department of Community Affairs Dated April 2nd the department request that by April 30th the county send the Department an update documenting what corrective action has been taken concerning Driftwood stormwater issues. The corrective actions should include an independent engineering study to document the extent of the drainage problem and what steps must be taken to bring the drainage system into compliance with the ADA standard. A plan then must be formulated to implement the independent engineer's recommendations. THIS IS ANOTHER EXPENSE THAT WILL COST THE COUNTY MILLIONS OF TAX PAYER DOLLARS PLUS ALL OF THE ATTORNEY FEES THEY HAVE SPENT ALREADY FIGHTING DRIFTWOOD. WHEN WILL THEY LEARN???????????????

If the County employee had not signed off on paperwork stating that the drainage system had been completed, when it had not, this wouldn't be an issue. The development wouldn't have moved forward. At least that is the way I understand it. If you want to point fingers, perhaps you should point them to the entity at fault, Walton County and it's staff.

Alan Osborn

Believe me I blame the county, their staff and their attorney who gave them bad advise. They should have fixed the problem for Driftwood years ago and save all of us a lot of money.

I think Alan is doing a great job and isn't going about it in some juvenile, obnoxious, and petty manner such as requesting ever email containing the word "water".

You do realize that the county doesn't generate revenue, right? They collect taxes from property owners, who I happen to be a part of. So when you say "THEY had to pay A LOT," it makes me a little upset. The only person you benefited was yourself, and the person you hurt was the Walton County Taxpayer. So the next time you decide to do the public a service don't sue us.

We may have a liberal sighting because they are the only ones who think the government generates income other than taking our money.:rotfl:

Perhaps the thread should be entitled Suzanne Harris beats County?

How, exactly did this issue get so freaking contentious? People need drainage so they don't die in a storm event. The government exists for the purpose of protecting life and property, and in that respect they have failed the people of Driftwood. If Osborn is going to longer and longer lengths to have the problem corrected, it is because the simple solutions have been thwarted in rather ridiculous ways.

Didn't this man just want a road through a property that is commercial and open to the general public, anyway?

So Allen is a hero and Suzanne is a villian? The logic escapes me.
