Charitable donations presented at Alys Beach holiday party

Santa Claus visited Alys Beach on Dec. 9 to offer cookies and candies to the children, but children weren?t the only recipients of special treats.
In the spirit of the holiday celebration, Alys Beach Founder Jason Comer presented checks to three community charities at the Alys in Winter Wonderland event. Comer recognized the efforts of the Children?s Volunteer Health Network, the Sacred Heart Foundation and Lighthouse Family Retreat.
?The Children?s Volunteer Health Network, which is a local group run by good people, organize efforts for doctors and dentists to provide free services for non-insured children,? Comer said. ?The group, founded two years ago, is already making a difference in the lives of local children. The stories are heart wrenching.?
CVHN Founder Tricia Carlisle-Northcutt accepted $40,000 from the Alys Foundation and EBSCO, the developer of Alys Beach.
Carlisle-Northcutt presented Comer the Spirit of Living award in recognition of his assistance with the program.
Sacred Heart Foundation Director Leonard Olson and Chair of Development Nancy Kelley accepted a check for $25,000 from EBSCO.
?Sacred Heart Health System has a long-standing tradition of meeting the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of our region, regardless of a patient?s ability to pay. With the opening of Sacred Heart in 2003, the citizens of South Walton have had access to quality health care in a patient friendly environment,? Comer said.
A $20,000 check from Alys Foundation and EBSCO was donated to Lighthouse Family Retreat, a Georgia-based charitable organization that arranges for children with cancer and their families to spend a vacation in homes along the coast.
