This was a very cool event!

We did a full Defuniak day - Tour of Homes, the Christmas trees at the Chataqua, Lunch at Bogie's, shopping at various stores, then the light display.

They had a variety of houses on the tour and it made it even more interesting that the owners were the ones telling you about their house.

One house was mid-renovation and they had the contractor there telling about the quirks of rehabbing an older home.

The highlight (IMO) had people in period costume in EVERY room telling you about the antiques and answering questions!

I think my house in SRB should be on the tour. It's old enough. I will dress up in the requisite costume...a pair of polyester Bermuda shorts, black socks with sock garters, sandals, and a Hagar golf shirt...and will expound about the highlights of our house...

"Our house is furnished with only the best examples of "late attic / early basement" pieces. Over in this corner is a rare find. Find it we did! It was discovered under a pile of boxes containing several Gulf Oil steak knive sets, a broken Big Wheel, and a toaster from our local savings and loan. It was a bit mildewed, but after a good washing with Clorox it's good as new!"

SinginChicken. You would have enjoyed the antique music displays at one home. An eclectic tour of your home accompanied by the sterling clutter of your mind would be fun. You could have the soundtracks of past recordings playing as background music. Wasn't someone looking for a Big Wheel on another thread?

"Sterling clutter of my mind"! Holy cow! That one almost made me wee a little from laughing so hard! :funn: That is a new one for sure. Maybe even a siggy line!

As soon as I submitted the thread, I remembered the Big Wheel. Whoever was looking for one wanted a broken one if memory serves...

Yup...in fact is was SWGB...

OMG - did the steak knive sets come from our store? Seems I remember seeing a display of those when I was a wee tot!
