We've been to the South Walton/Destin area many times over the past 15 years and each time we strive to stay at a better place than the last. Last time we were down, in Aug 2006, we stayed at the Adagio and were in heaven. I haven't seen anything with 3 or more bedrooms for under $1500 (first full week in October) which has a pool nicer than theirs and is also directly on the beach. We got with both sets on parents, so one set really loves the pool, the other has to be directly on the beach. Any other suggestions? I like to try new places, but it just doesn't seem to get any better than that....
Anything better than Adagio?

Adagio does seem to have it all! You can check out Bella Vita which is next to Adagio - Villas at Santa Rosa Beach, just across the street from Gulf Place (30A &393) or Legacy in Seagrove Beach. They are all large upscale complexes on the beach without taking a tram to the beach!

We stayed at Adagio in May and I have already booked another room for October. We had a great time. You really can't beat that lagoon pool and then to have the infinity pool on top of being beach front is great. I checked several other places and could not find anything any better in my opinion for the price.
The only downside might be, since the price is good for you, is the large number of people staying there. But some would say that's an upside, and it's nothing like a Destin or Panama City Beach high rise.
Have you tried Watersound? Of course I am a bit biased.

I actually didn't know about the beautiful pool at WaterSound. I would LOVE to stay there. However, while I would be willing to pay the little bit more ($200 per couple x 3 couples) to stay there, the other two couples would not be willing. So if anyone you know in Watersound wants to deal the 4th-10th of October for under $1500 + 11% tax, let me know!
