Car companies are not subject to the tax, for one reason - unions. The Senate's method of paying for health care reform is to tax "cadillac" health plans. Guess who is not subject to the tax - unions, which typically have the most lucrative health plans that exist, and rarely, if ever, contribute a penny to the coverage, unlike the rest of us that have it deducted from every paycheck for our own "pontiac" plans.
