I had an oppportunity to meet Murph this morning while he was setting up for today's business. I had been to the post office and asked him if he knew the jerk who owns the older red Ford PU with Ga plates that was parked too long in front of the post office....he did not. That is another story but it sucks when peeps park for the day in the P.O. spaces.

Anyway, we were talking BBQ, I'm BBQ'er myself and I was lucky enough that Murph offered me a sample of his butt...err...his pulled pork butt. It was freakin' awesome! 30+ hrs. on the cooker, tender, juicey and delicious. After seeing the care and preparation that goes into his BBQ, it certainly justifies the price.

Do yourself a favor and stop in for lunch!

On another note, if you go, make sure you let them know if you are staying or getting your food to go. Murph strives to run a Green or Eco Friendly establishment and actually pays MORE for recycled products. It makes no since for someone to order carryout, have it all packaged up and then eat at one of the tables. A waste or resources and time for all.

Like I said in another thread, the meat at Barefoot BBQ is the best since I've had at Gorria in Barcelona. Rid your mind of the typical BBQ (which I despise) and move to a higher level of cooked meat. It's the spice rub on the meat and the manner in which it is cooked which makes it so special. It's not dependent upon sauce. As a matter of fact, the sauces are your choice after being served. Very high quality.

No association with the restaurant. Our family just really likes Doc Chey's (on Highland). Well-priced, yummy, and healthy food.

We will be there (in ATL) next week for a week or so. And will eat there and at Osteria's. They have great pizza and well-priced also. We don't have children but love to go before six and watch all of the young families. It is just great.

The owner also does a lot of community involvment/fundraisers (giving back to the community) which is also wonderful. Wish he would open up a Doc Chey's down on 30A. He loves 30A.

Thanks for your reply.

For inexpensive Italian we like Figo. I like the one on Howell Mill, but daughter and fianc? like the one on Moreland so they can stop at Jake's for ice cream.

Have fun in the ATL.
