Best known as Dorothy in the "Golden Girls",
and "Maude", which was a spin-off from her character Maude,
Edith Bunker's cousin on "All in the Family",
Bea Arthur, passed away today at the age of 86.

Born May 13, 1922 as Bernice Frankel,
Bea was a multi award winning star
of the stage and screen.
Our Golden Girl is now a Golden Angel.

Thanks for entertaining us all these years.

My perfect beach
Loved her. She was - and I mean this in the best way - a great broad. Spunky and funny. She'll be missed. One of my all time favorites scenes:

I loved her dead-pan looks that she gave!
I would have liked to know her in person.

My thoughts exactly. I had no clue that she was 86, until I forced myself to think about how long ago those series were on broadcast TV.

Rue McClanahan (Blanche) was in an episode of Law & Order SVU a couple of weeks ago. I didn't recognize her at all; ShallowsFuzz recognized her voice and the credits proved him right.
