We will be visiting South Walton Oct. 4-10th and staying at the Adagio in Blue Mountain Beach. I'm looking for places to go at night to listen to live music or just hang out. We're in our mid-20's, and my parent's are in their early 50s. We'll be taking turns going out and staying home with the baby, so suggestions for both age groups would be great....although we usually like the same things. On our list so far is:

-Sally's Backside on Tuesday to see Redd sing
-Bud and Alley's rooftop deck to get some smoked tuna dip and some beers
-and we used to enjoy walking to Blue Orleans to hear the live music, but seems it's up for sale, so I'm assuming no more live music by the time we get there.

Salty Dog.....do you post a list of what bands will be playing each night? We like to look up (and possibly hear) what kinds of music the bands will be playing before we get there.

One night of paying a $10 cover charge each to listen to an Irish rock band with their bagpipes makes us hesitant to just "go with the flow" anymore! :yikes:

We do post our bands every week on SoWal. We have never had Bagpipe Rock n Roll but it sounds interesting. We have 95% local music with no cover. Once a month we bring in a national or regional act and have a $5.00 cover for 2 hours to help pay the band. The big shows next month are Col. Bruce Hampton and The Quark Alliance on the 6th and Rev. Jeff with Blueground Undergrass on the 18th and 19th. You can see our complete schedule and check out the bands at www.myspace.com/saltydogrules

Yes, bagpipe rock n'roll is "interesting." It was an irish bar, so maybe we should have known!

Anyway, thanks for the website. I'll be sure to check it out before we leave in October and make sure we come by one night (or two) to check out the Salty Dog Saloon! Can't wait to be down in SoWal....

Don't forget to check Dredd Clampitt's site for their apperances (I believe they still play at Red Bar Sundays at 12:00 and again at 7 or 7:30?)

DREADCLAMPITT

Also check out Waco Ramblers...wherever they are playing.

Just looked WACORAMBLERS it appears that they are not playing anywhere the early part of October....but I am sure that will change.

Also there's the Old Florida Fish House on Friday & Saturday nights. Great music there, too, along with all the other wonderful suggestions!
