Local businesses will be honored by the Workforce Development Board of Okaloosa and Walton Counties, the Economic Development Council of Okaloosa County and the Walton County Economic Development Council at the ?Best Places to Work? celebration on Sept. 20. The three organizations are co-sponsoring the second Workplace Excellence Awards Program to honor those area businesses and organizations that lead the community in providing quality workplaces.
Winners of the three 2006 Workplace Excellence Awards will be announced at 8:30 a.m. at the Breakfast of Champions at the Emerald Coast Conference Center on Okaloosa Island. This event coincides with the State of Florida Industry Appreciation Week, Sept. 18 ? 22.
The Workforce Development Board has enlisted the services of Personnel Dynamics Consulting Inc., to identify this year?s winners. Personnel Dynamics analyzes and rates 37 objective measurements to determine the ?Best Employers? in Okaloosa and Walton counties. The information is provided by the organizations and calculated by a computer program developed by Personnel Dynamics Consulting. The credibility of the program is based on facts supplied by the participants and not the opinions of the community. Applicants will be judged in three groups based on the number of their employees working in Okaloosa and Walton counties. Employee size categories are 1 ? 49 employees, 50 ? 149 employees and 150+ employees. ?We have many outstanding businesses and organizations in our region,? Mary Lou Reed, Executive Director of the Workforce Development Board said. ?The Workplace Excellence Awards program gives us the opportunity to recognize those who are deemed the best. It also provides an opportunity to showcase some of the programs and practices that make them the best. We think this awards program is great for our businesses and great for our community.?
The competition is open to all businesses and organizations in Okaloosa and Walton counties. Businesses and organizations are invited to participate in the competition through their association with the Workforce Development Board, the Economic Development Council and local Chambers of Commerce. There is no application fee. To complete the application for the 2006 Workplace Excellence Award, go to www.Personnel Dynamics. net.
