I'm looking for an update of current beach erosion at Blue Mountain Inn area. We are trying to decide whether to go to the Inn or move our vacation to another location in South Walton. Your insight would be greatly appreciated. Beach pictures too! THANKS-

Hello ting,

Well I noticed no one replied to your request for info yet so I'll try and help although I don't have any pictures to post.

Basically the beach in Blue Mountain is fine. The erosion issues are mostly about the dunes and some of the houses that now find themselves closer to the dune edge than they would like. A lot of homes are putting up seawalls etc. (see threads on this topic) which is you may find a bit unsightly.

Some places haven't repaired their beach walkovers yet but I am pretty sure the Inn at Blue Mountain has, or at least the public walkover immediately next to the Inn is there because I went up it a few weeks ago.

I live in Blue Mountain and have enjoyed many fine beach days there already this year. The media has over-hiped the amount of damage we have had here in the past few years; please come down and enjoy your stay.

Hopefully someone will follow up with some pictures so you can see for yourself what to expect.

I haven't been down to the beach at the Inn in a while, but I could only guess that it is good to go, as Uncle Timmy stated. The big problems with the seawalls were to the east of the location of the Inn. From the Inn to the west should be pretty nice right now. The water is emerald green and about 88F degrees warm.

Here's picture at Blue Mountain Villas, about 3 miles from the Inn at Blue Mountain, the weekend before July 4, taken by the condo owner who is renting to us in September.
This is my first post so I hope it shows up!

:welcome: poodleone...Good job on posting!!!

Goodness, when are we going to lose the "bad beaches" image? Is the media just having a slow news day somewhere? Yes, there is erosion at the edge of the dunes. But when we were there two weeks ago, the beaches were beautiful, the water was beautiful, and we felt as if we were in paradise (after getting over the shock of all of the damage done to our home by renters :puke:).

We just got home from a FANTASTIC 10 day stay at Adagio on Blue Mountain Beach. The conditions were awesome...beautiful, clear water, same white sand beach and the new sea oats are coming along just fine!! :clap_1: There are a few areas with a little peat (is that what the black stuff is) mixed in but those are right up close to the dune line. Definitely NOT a big deal. I was also there in April for a week and equally pleased. I couldn't imagine vacationing anywhere else. I'll try to post some pictures if I can figure it out.
