Just wondering how the litte neighborhood of BMB homes in the North side "crook" where 30a curves (about where Adagio is) has mangaged to stay like it is. I dont think there's another area like it on 30A. Sorry I dont mean to insult anyone, but most of the houses in that area are 30-50 year old brick boxes, looks pretty downscale compared to the gentrification that has gone on all over SoWal. Any ideas why this area has not developed more? It seems squeezed in by 30a and the 4 story condo right behind it. There are some newer homes in there, but I would say 75% are pretty
much shacks.

Many have been owned by the same families for many years and those folks don't want it to change, much like Grayton Beach. However there has been some new construction in the last few years with some mighty big and fancy houses in there. Mostly those have gone up on vacant lots but the old houses will eventually be replaced by bigger ones.

The neighborhood also has an active association which some of our posters can tell you more about.

Thanks. I didnt mean it as any kind of insult, I just figured there had to be some sort of story behind it given that every other area on 30A has
gentrified in a major way (look at old seagrove), given the lots in most cases are worth more to builders than an older, smnaller out of style home. That being said, its great there are still areas that are throwbacks to simpler times...just curious.

I wish I owned one of those cinderblock boxes. I kinda like the fact they are a burr in the saddle for the noveau riche that would prefer to drop a monstrosity there. :clap_1:

I love that area of SoWalton! It is like going back in years. There are some VERY unusual older houses in there as well!

 ...I was just telling Mr. Kitty, again, that I have always wanted one of those one story cinderblock homes on the gulf just east of Seaside. They look so cozy and just my size. I like the diversity of homes along 30A.

How about the little old house on 30-A with the plywood cutout of Charlie Brown in a Florida beanie? If it were not for that cutout, I would not know The Charles Brown family lived there! If that Charlie Brown could talk he would have some stories to tell. Florida is losing way too much of the quirkiness from the old days. :sosad:

I've wondered that too, but wouldn't have had the courage to post the question. I'm sure you'll get some nasty replies.

Wow. No nasty replies yet. It's all in how you ask the question maybe??
