Arts in Medicine at Sacred Heart
All local artists are encouraged to learn more about the Arts in Medicine program at Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast. Put your artistic talents to use in new and innovative ways. To learn more about the program and opportunities for involvement please contact Sharon Abele at 278-3081 or sabele@shhpens.org.
Arts in Medicine is an emerging field within health care that addresses what many have long known and medical research is now proving – that music, writing, dance, storytelling and other art activities can play an important role in healing not just the body, but the mind and spirit of an individual.
The overall goal of Arts in Medicine is to integrate performing, meditative and visual arts into a wide variety of settings to promote community wellness. Through the program, Sacred Heart will bring artists, artwork and performers into the hospital to provide activities at the bedside and in outpatient clinical areas and waiting rooms. Participating artists will receive a small honorarium and free meal in the Sacred Heart café.

Embracing Our Differences in Sarasota
Embracing Our Differences is an international outdoor art exhibit to be held in Sarasota, FL intended to demonstrate in a positive way that diversity enriches our lives. The mission of Embracing Our Differences is to use the arts as a catalyst for creating awareness and promoting, throughout our community, the value of diversity, the benefits of inclusion and the significance of the active rejection of hatred and prejudice.
Walton County artists are invited to apply for participation in Embracing Our Differences 2013, the 10th Anniversary outdoor art exhibit, that will contain 39 billboard-sized original works of art. Each selection is accompanied by an inspirational quote. The combination of art and the written word adds a deeper dimension to the overall experience. Since 2004, the exhibit has been viewed by more than one million visitors. The exhibit will be on display during April & May 2013 at Island Park along Sarasota's beautiful bay front.
For more information about the 2013 Call to Artists or Call for Quotations please visit the Embracing Our Differences website.

Teacher mini grants are awarded quarterly, along with need-based student scholarships. College scholarships are awarded annually, and starving artist grants are awarded twice a year.
