CAA presents "Seeing in the Dark" by Rocky Hard at Destin Chops 30-A
Walton County, FL ? As part of its Friday Night Artist Series, The Cultural Arts Association will present ?Seeing in the Dark,? a special event showcasing award-winning jewelry artisan Rocky Hard on Friday, October 17 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Destin Chops 30-A in Seacrest Beach.
Hard will discuss what he describes as a journey through an alternate landscape of seeing Fractal Geometry, seeing multiple galaxies at the speed of light as well as a point of origin all at once, and how these Shamanic and Yogie adventures inspire his art.
The event is free and open to the public. Light hors d?oeuvres will be served, and Destin Chops 30-A will offer happy hour drink specials from the bar. For more information, please call the CAA office at (850) 622-5970.
About Rocky Hard
Hard believes his vision to be inspired by his cross culture, Creek Indian blood ancestry of the Revolutionary and Civil War eras. In this vision, he sees his Indian self kneeling beside a lake, glistening metallic particles streaming through his fingers like sand. His consciousness tells him that in his hands is the ability to make the particles into a future and a livelihood. His gallery and his work are the manifestation of that vision.
Born in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba and nicknamed ?Rocky? at birth, Hard learned stone cutting and metalsmithing from Peruvian and North American Indians. He further studied at the Rhode Island School of Design, the Jewelry Institute and the Guild of the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths.
Since 1976, Hard has won many awards for his work, including ?Best of Show? & First Place Jewelry at the Great Gulf Coast Arts Festival, and has received numerous commissions, including the ?Champion of Peace? belt for Mohammed Ali and the coronation suite for King Ocansey of Ghana, Africa.
