The Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance, a non-profit group committed to sustaining and providing for optimum use of the Choctawhatchee Watershed, is holding its annual spring meeting on May 5,6 - 8 p.m. at the Mattie Kelly Estate, 4141 Indian Trail, Destin.
The event combines the casual atmosphere of a fish fry with information about the group?s environmental activities, including a presentation on the final results of the CBA?s Choctawhatchee Bay Nutrient Loading Study. The meeting is open to all who are interested in learning more about the group?s current activities to promote the health of the Choctawhatchee River Basin.
CBA, under the auspices of the Okaloosa-Walton College, provides opportunities for citizens, educators and technical experts to promote the health of the Choctawhatchee Basin. The umbrella group includes area residents, developers, educators, community groups and others.
According to Phillip Ellis, CBA Coastal Dune Lakes Program Coordinator, the spring meeting is an excellent opportunity for the community to be educated on issues concerning the watershed, to provide valuable input into the future direction of the group and to get to know the staff, board members and volunteers who make CBA possible.
"We thrive on public involvement and offer our members the important task of voting for the board of directors that will shape our future goals," said Ellis. "CBA is extremely proud of the individuals involved with the Alliance and the direction they are taking the organization. We encourage others to attend this meeting and get to know the people who will be shaping our future."
Individuals who plan to attend are requested to contact Lizette Lennon at (850) 650-9330 to RSVP.
