The Professional Elves have been working all over our neighborhood this past week. Saw the first lit up house last night...even saw a tree lit up inside a house. Those that pay for this service get a discount if they do it before Thanksgiving. Miss Kitty has Mr. Kitty and her son do their house.

I don't think it's so much about when you put them UP; it's when you turn them ON.

I like to see Thanksgiving over before I start looking at Christmas lights twinkling on people's houses.

By the same token, I also like to see New Year's Day over (at least New Years!!) before I see Christmas trees lying on the curb for the garbage man to collect. What is it about people that they don't believe in the 12 days of Christmas anymore? :sosad:

A neighbor put up his lights last weekend, WTF?

What is your timing?

I think it is because they put them up so early...they are so dead and dry by Christmas day...they are sick of looking at them

No kidding. I know people that take down their tree at the crack of dawn on Dec. 26th. Done. Gone. Out the door, time to decorate for Valentine's Day. Blech!

I like to get through Thanksgiving first, but after that, anything goes.
I usually just put up red chili pepper lights, don't know how well that would go over in these parts.
I usually take everything down New Year's Day.

Neighbors of ours on our old Denver block keep their tree up through Valentine's Day, and always have a huge VD party, with their tree decorated with hearts.
One year the tree actually began growing--it had new pale green growth on its branches for their annual party.

I wish we could have a real tree- but live ones make everyone here sick.:dunno:

But I do plan on doing another bird tree outside this year- we make ornaments out of bird food. Last year, we sliced bagels, spread them with peanut butter, dipped them in birdseed, and hung them on a tree. Never saw one bird eat them, but the squirrels went nuts for them. I'm not wasting my time on them this year!

We had a warm spell here Thursday and Friday, so MAN-go put the lights on the 2 big pine trees we light since they require an extension ladder, But we wont turn them on till after Thanksgiving.
We still have a lot of other decorating to do with fresh greenery, so we wait until after Thanksgiving to put that up so by New Years it doesn't look brown. We still have leaves dropping here
