Collecting tax on short term rentals

Hello everyone,
We are closing in a week or two on a condo in Blue Mt. Beach. We will be listing it on VRBO so I was wondering how to go about figuring taxes, and if anyone used a certain service company to help with this. I found Hot Spot tax services online but I was wondering if you guys knew about them or anyone else you could reccomend. Thanks!

It's not very hard. You'll need to register with the Florida Department of Revenue and Walton County Clerk of Courts. Go to dor.myflorida.com/dor for the state and www.touristtax.com/Walton for the county. You should be able to download the forms you need from there.

The state and county both have websites which you can use to file returns and make payments. I don't recall if you can sign up from the sites I gave you above, but if you call the two agencies above, they can help you. Believe it or not, both governmental agencies are very helpful and easy to deal with. Just give them a call or stop in.

Most importantly, get in touch with a user on here named "Shallowsnole". There is no better authority for Walton County bed tax.
