An Orange County man accused of having sex with a dog is no longer required to be on home confinement while his case is pending in court, a judge ruled this morning.
Orange Circuit Court Judge Rand Wallis reminded 21-year-old Laszlo Arsenio Horvath that he must continue to stay away from animals and not having any pets at home.
Horvath told the judge that he hasn't been able to attend school or get a job due to the constraints of home confinement. He wants to attend a local culinary school.
In July, deputies charged Horvath with animal abuse.
Authorities accused him of having sex and seriously injuring his 8-year-old Whippet mix named Silvy. When Horvath refused to pay for the Silvy's care, an investigator persuaded him to surrender the dog to animal services. A vet put the dog down.
During the hearing today, prosecutor Steve Kerestes asked that Horvath receive a mental evaluation. The judge agreed, asking that it be done within the next two week.
