Hello,

I've been to the Grayton Beach for vacation in recent past years, and I now have an incredibly lucky opportunity to be sent for work in Destin starting 6/10 for 1 week. I want to stay in--or near -- Grayton and then just commute. Mainly because I don't know the Destin area very well, but do I do know So. Walton. We'd like to be able to rent bikes for the bike trail, etc. (We'll be flying into Pensacola and renting a car but would like to be able to ride everywhere in the off time on bikes.)

My problem is that I've never tried to find a location for just two people. We normally rent a larger home for our whole family, but this time it is just me and my teenage son, who will be working with me. We want to be near the beach but have cost restrictions because our employer is footing the bill. They normally pick the accomodations, and would probably pick a budget hotel that would be cost-effective but have offered to let me pick my accomodations IF they are priced in the same range. I think I should be able to find something reasonable but don't know where to look. I'm not sure what their range is, but assume a budget hotel would be around 800 for a week.

Can anyone recommend somewhere that would hold just two of us that would be reasonably priced and within walking distance to the beach and commuting distance to Destin. Fancy is not necessary.

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum.

Check Hibiscus, I think it's a bed & breakfast type place. Others on this board are more familiar with places to stay in Grayton. You could always check the state parks too...Tops'l, Grayton...some have cabins, very basic. I'm not much help am I? :welcome:

Hibiscus was the first place I looked, actually. They look like they're king-sized or queen beds, and my son is 18. We are mom and son, not dad and son, so we could definitely share a room, but not a bed. I'm thinking a tiny condo, maybe.

We've a 3/2 condo (gulf view) in Seagrove available in your price range. It's been on the market for sale and the owner finally decided to short term rent so it hasn't ever been occupied. PM me for details if you're interested.
