Hi! My family is looking for a place to stay in July - we'll have 2 toddlers and a baby with us, so the idea of staying right next to the outlet of eastern lake is appealing. I know Commodore Retreat is older, but just wanted to get opinions on it or other suggestions - thanks!!

husband and I stayed there twice...no kids along (all grown) two different units, both nice one bedroom...didn't use the pool but the units were fine...first time was shortly after a hurricane the the walkover was repaired, unlike others in the area...we enjoyed being near Eastern Lake...beach was a good width

The beach has shrunk a little over in that direction. It could have something to do with the unnatural opening of Eastern Lake.

Make sure all the construction is completed. They are replacing the entire exterior of Commodore. The condo next door, Eastern Shores, I believe, has been completely rebuilt and looks great. Have stayed there and loved it.

We have stayed at CR's in the past and will return when we need to. We stay closer to Seaside, but like that stretch west of Eastern Lake. Nice quiet street. And yes they were remodeling when we were there after Christmas. That is my east boundary from Seaside - the furthest I want to be. Counting down to mid June.
Went to the BBC the other night in Louisville. We had put SoWal sticker on our mugs. A couple we have always seen there (he's from Birmingham) followed us when we grabbed the mugs. His family has been going down there since the early 80's. They'll be near us when we are down there too. Love Louisville.)
