Never pay another utility bill?! Sign me up!

Energy, water, and waste? No problem for the zeroHouse. The solar panels generate all the power, which is stored in a battery for a week, just in case the sun does not wish to shine. The beautiful bay windows are heat-mirror glass that is triple-paned to provide extra insulation, and the zeroHouse collects its own rain water and filters it in four 550-gallon cisterns. Waste is collected in an automated composting unit and used to feed the garden once a year.

zeroHouse Speaks To The Conservationist And The Romanticist

I really hope this is a sign of things to come. I think it looks pretty neat too!

Right here!
Homes by Ikea?!

If you really want to go energy neutral in your own house, take out a loan and install a solar system. Great kickbacks too from the gov'mt. (I'll bet Gidget will be enjoying one of those this spring!)

Thanks for sharing Douglas. I SO love it - plan is so ingenious!! I wish we could have incorporated allll of these things into our house, but at least we are working toward receiving the Energy Star certification which we are thrilled about! Just one inspection left I believe!

Love the concept, but I agree about those panels. I guess if the footprint were larger, the panels would 'fade.'
