I think Florida springs are among the most beautiful places in the state. So natural and wild and unspoiled. And so cold. Sooooo cold. :D It usually takes me about an hour to get in, inch by freezing inch (and this is coming from a New Englander)! But once the deed is done you can hardly get me out of that water since it's so incredibly refreshing, particularly when the summer temp is hovering around the 100 degree mark. There's really nothing like it.

Thanks for posting this! I bet a lot of people weren't even aware we had a spring so close to SoWal.

Yes, it's nice to know there are places to go in the heat of the summer! There are several springs in Walton County, most in the north part such as Vortex Springs, a few "secret" spots and, of course Morrison Springs. CLICK HERE for a story on Morrison Springs.

I took Mama Scooterbug to Ponce De Leon Springs on our way back from the Caverns.

She thought it was really cool to see the cypress tree growing out of the clear blue water, but was disappointed by the walking trails (and not seeing a gator).
