As during the past five years, Walton County’s Youth Recreation Soccer programs continue to expand throughout the county.

According to Walton County Recreation Director Shane Supple, “The program has grown from 25-30 teams North of Bay to around 80-100 teams countywide. We are looking at around 800 kids participating this fall alone.”

Walton County recreation soccer games and practices are held throughout the counties facilities that include Helen McCall Park, Freeport Regional Sports Complex, Wee Care Park and Paxton Athletic Fields.

In order to allow the program to grow at such a rapid pace, the Walton Recreation Department has received many inquiries from businesses wanting information on how they can help. In response to the inquiries, the department has set up a sponsorship program for businesses interested in helping while providing them with a family friendly sponsorship opportunity. Businesses can sponsor one team for $100 or multiple teams for an additional $75 per team. The sponsorship of the team will provide for jerseys for the team and will include the business name and logo on each jersey.

In addition to business jersey sponsorship, the department conducts a cleat drive to help people acquire cleats who can’t afford them. Individuals who would like to donate cleats can purchase new pairs of cleats or donate used pairs that they are not using.

This year’s season begins Oct.1 and until Nov 10. Games are played on Saturdays.

Any businesses or individuals who would be interested in receiving more information on sponsorship or cleat donation opportunities can contact either Shane Supple or Ashley Brown at the Walton Recreation Department at 850-892-8700 or by email at broashley@co.walton.fl.us.
