Can someone recommend a favorite crabbing spot whether it be on the shore of the gulf, the bay or adjacent lake. We are simple, old school--just using a net, pole, string, and piece of chicken. Thanks for any and all suggestions!

331 Bridge is where I have my best luck with how you just described going after them. I hear they're there right now as well. Good luck and :welcome:

Can somone fill me in on this? We are down here with a few boys for the next 12 days and am sure that they would love this. Someone told me at the beach about this, but I can't find much about it. I need to know where to go, what I need, and what time of the day we would need to go. Thanks in advance.

Generally the bay is going to be your best bet. Seems like the lakes have been pretty empty of crabs. Anytime of day is fine, crabs are always hungry. In my decades of crabbing I've found that turkey necks seem to work best.

Keep in mind that you are limited to 1 5 gallon bucket of blue crabs per person per day. In addition if you flip the crab over and notice a black "beard" around the under portion of the shell you have caught a pregnant female and must return it to the water, the fine is $500.00. In general a best fisheries practice is to always return females. Also the minimum catch width (from point to point on the shell) is five inches, anything less and you're looking at a fine as well.
