I have used CreditKeeper, http://www.mycreditkeeper.com since 2007. It cost me $9.99 a month. They send me updates of credit inquiries, or if anyone other than myself pulls my credit report or opens any accounts in my name. I can view my credit report from all 3 reporting agencies anytime I want to as many times as I want to. They send me an updated credit score every month even if it has not changed in the last month. You can do a 3 bureau comparison as well to see what the different bureaus have on file for your credit report and scores. You can dispute any wrong information as well right on the site. I love this service and would recommend to anyone. The first 30 days are free when you signup. You can signup, pull your credit report and all 3 scores and then if you don't like it you can cancel your membership.

Also, I use a credit union. I have no annual fees and the interest rate on my home, car and credit card are much lower than any bank. If you have a credit union near you that you could join, I would recommend that.

sc - I also do not carry a balance but would think that because of the level of activity on my card monthly, the cc company would be making enough $$ from merchants to consider me worthwhile.

People like you and me who do not carry balances on their cards are not good customers. CC companies don't like us because we don't make them any money. They like people who carry balances and make their payments. Calling us "good customers" and slapping a fee just proves it...

We should just go back to charge cards instead of credit cards.

I did my annual check 2 months ago and they wouldn't tell me.

From TrueCredit? My last check was in October, and they had FICOs. I purchased the three-in-one report.

But as I see it, if I didn't use their card (used a competitors instead) then they wouldn't be getting that % from the merchant.

I hear ya'. They double dip and I know more and more people going back to cash. That is obviously sending a loud message to cc cos.
