Hand Building Clay Workshop: Ghost Luminaries with Jessica Batson
WHEN: Sep 9th & 22nd
TIME: 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM


Enjoy an afternoon of hand building with clay, as you make a fun and friendly collection of Ghost luminaries!

Join instructor Jessica Batson, as she teaches you how to construct Ghost clay luminaries! No experience required, beginners encouraged, and open to all ages- this workshop will teach you the basics of hand building in clay, such as the pinch pot technique, as you create your own three Ghost luminaries just in time for the holidays!

All materials included. Beginners welcomed and encouraged in this workshop of clay for all ages! Artwork created during the workshop will be fired and glazed by the Instructor, and be available for pick up two-three weeks after the workshop date.

Cost for each workshop session is $50 which includes firing and glazing.

No experience required, beginners encouraged, and open to all ages- this workshop will teach you the basics of hand building in clay, such as the pinch pot technique, as you create your own pumpkin just in time for the holidays!

Cost for each workshop session is $50 which includes firing and glazing.

Watercolor with Karen Peterson
WHEN: Sept. 14th
TIME: 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM


Join talented artist Karen Paterson on Wednesdays at the Bayou Arts Center from 9am to Noon for a weekly Watercolor painting class.

Karen tries to introduce many different techniques and styles through planned paintings. She provides a sketch for each class, and participants will proceed in a step-by-step process, until everyone completes the painting of the day. Although everyone begins with the same sketch, all paintings turn out differently because of each artists innate style. All supplies for the class will be provided except paper for $5/class.

Pastels with Melody Bogle
WHEN: Sept. 20th
TIME: 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM


Join talented artist Melody Bogle on Tuesdays at the Bayou Arts Center from 9am to Noon for a weekly class based on continued growth in the process of painting with Pastels. Includes types and differences in supports and pastels and the types of under paintings. Working from personal photos students can produce art that has a personal meaning for them.

Class size is limited to 20 participating students.
Cost is $30/members and $35/non-members.

Beginning Rug Hooking
WHEN: Sept. 30th
TIME: 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM


Beginning Rug Hooking is a series of three classes in which students will learn the basics of rug hooking to include fundamental principles and concepts that allow each student to understand and create a hooked product. This class will practice pulling loops on a 12" x 12" pattern designed by the instructor which encourages a variety of basic techniques. We will utilize a variety of wools and/or other fibers to achieve the essence of the design. Students will also learn about equipment and tools utilized for rug hooking.
