What the heck are crusty fries?

They are the fries every restaurant seems to be going with that have been discussed on the board a few times. They are coated with corn starch to keep them crispy (crusty) longer under the heat lamp. I detest them for their lack of flavor and artificiality. Although I am on a fried food ban for the last month or so, when I eat fries I like them to taste like actual potatoes, not fried worms. Call me picky. If I am served crusty fries I will not go back to the offending restaurant (unless they are high on the list for grilled shrimp or fish, or some specialty), and I am not alone. Although I have heard some people say they actually prefer them I think that is another indication of the loss of taste in America.

Give me a great Idaho crinkle cut hot anyday.
