Was so glad to learn that Deed Lake State Park was not closed. Does any one know why it is that the lake and surrounding park property is assessed by Walton County to St. Joe, rather than the state of Florida?

IIRC the state does own the property, but when Joe was granted an easement for WaterSound West Beach the property appraisers website went goofy.

Thank you very much. That's a relief. Been coming to the area from Birmingham for 40 + years for vacation since a baby. Lucky to have "known it when". Deer Lake reminds me of the old days. Thanks to you local folk for all you've done to keep development as sane as you've been able to.

My extended family is staying in the same seagrove house this September and I am thinking of renting a cottage at Seagrove villas, for the close proximity to the main house (but for some privacy) and for nostalgia's sake. Back when I was a kid the Villas used to let us swim in the pool when the June grass came in. The cottages look very cool.

Thanks again for the info. This is a fantastic site.
