(Yeah, I know it's smack in the middle of darkest Destin, but if you ever find yourself in the area....)
So the good news is that the new place is still a shack, although a decidedly nicer shack than the original bayside restaurant (which AFAIK, is still open) For one there are actual tables and chairs instead of picnic tables. If you liked the original, you'll probably like this one too. If you were kind of on the fence about the original, the new place is still worth a try.
Much of the menu is pretty similar in terms of items and prices as before, though they've added some salads, appetizers, and entree offerings. They've improved the beverage service- actual fountain drinks instead of cans, you no longer have the messy DIY iced tea area, and they've added some wine offerings to the beer.
The fish so far seems to be a little fresher than our last couple tries at the bayside restaurant. They always have mahi & tuna plus a couple more offerings from whatever the fleet is bringing in.
If you can get one of the three small tables on the second floor deck, the view over Norreigo Point, the channel, and out to the Gulf from there is beautiful.
