It was a hell of a night, but not the kind Dustin Lynch was expecting.
The country singer was injured during a performance on Friday night when a concertgoer threw a can of beer at the stage that struck him in the face.
The incident took place at MulletFest in Niceville, Florida, just as Lynch was finishing up his cover of Garth Brooks's "Friends in Low Places."
"I was walking down the catwalk and wham, out of nowhere this beer can just nailed me in the face," Lynch, 29, tells PEOPLE exclusively, "It was a completely full can and it felt like a baseball had hit me."
