I live near Eastern Lake and there is this hurrendous noise that sounds like a squeaky belt on a car magnified times ten!

What side of Eastern Lake is it on? I'll ask sis to beat on their hood.
The only thing going on that I hear is illegal fireworks...or we're being shelled.
So not meaning to whine.
I wished I lived near Pandoras and could hear the sweet music instead.
I just wish I lived close enough to SMELL Pandora's...
I'm betting it's a dieing A/C unit. Usually the bearings go and the occupants are either oblivious or out at dinner. I would try to find the source and turn it off (the switch is usually a large handle near the compressor), and leave a note if no one's home. If it keeps going and catches fire it's no fun. Burning freon=mustard gas.
Could also be a lawn pump going bad. (Ask me how I know about that one. Sigh.)
