Just heard a news story on NPR regarding NASA and the USAF. The focus of the story was on NASA, but they also mention that the USAF has "gotten into a sticky situation" at Eglin AFB, because they agreed to share runways with the VPS municipal airport. Now that Eglin will be responsible for hosting a new fleet of jets, they want to kick out VPS.
I had heard a while back that VPS would be closing down after the new roadway is completed from VPS to the new PCB airport under construction, but I heard that from some people who are supposedly in the know. This is the first news story I've heard stating that there is somewhat of a conflict between VPS and Eglin AFB.
Wish I had the story in print, to post.
