Two good Mexican eateries in Freeport! El Jacalito is muy autentico- tortillas made on site. You won't find any hard shell tacos with ground beef (American type). Great soft tacos with your choice of meat filling, three for 5.00. The ceveche is out of this world and only 2.75 heaped on a tostada. The menu is not very accurate so just ask what is available other than the standards I mentioned. The other place is just north of the 331 bridge. "Calentano" also tasty. More of a real retaurant feel to it. The tortas (sandwiches) on homemade bread are really good. My husband always gets Steak Milanesa (pounded, breaded and fried) a big portion for the price. They are open seven days and have extra specials on the weekends. Both places are likely to have mostly Hispanic customers, a good sign!
