WASHINGTON ? Tuesday's midterm elections ? and the record-shattering amounts outside groups spent to oust Democratic incumbents ? are just a warm-up to the 2012 presidential race, analysts and experts say.

Conservative groups outspent liberal groups by a more than 2-to-1 ratio heading into an Election Day that brought the biggest Republican sweep in the House of Representatives in decades and sliced into the Democratic majority in the Senate.

Oh how soon we forget the 2008 election and the millions and millions that the Dems spent to elect Obama. I guess all that money just fell off the money tree.

For better or worse the entire process is based on how much money you can raise and use to buy advertising. When local races spend hundreds of thousands, state races cost hundreds of millions and the President costs around one billion, you can expect that some of that money comes from questionable sources. Both parties take the dirty money and both spend it without blinking an eye. As I was told two years ago, quit crying and whining and go out and raise more money if you want to compete. We just followed your suggestion.

I have no idea nationally, but they are not a great source of funding locally. They do have volunteers that are great to work with, but money is tight all over unless you are running against Harry Reid.
