ELEVATED FIRE DANGER FOR PORTIONS OF NORTHWEST FLORIDA 9/28/22

The National Weather Service in Tallahassee has issued a Red Flag Warning for portions of Walton, Washington, Holmes, and Jackson Counties on Wednesday, September 28.

A Red Flag Warning means critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will during the day, due to a combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures. These conditions can contribute to extreme fire behavior.

South Walton Fire District will be closely monitoring conditions and strongly discourages outdoor burning until the Red Flag Warning has expired.

Please note: SWFD DOES NOT ISSUE BURN PERMITS IN OUR JURISDICTION! Burn permits are issued by the Florida Forest Service (FFS). Inquiries about burn permits and outdoor burning regulations should be directed to our local FFS office at 850-373-1801.
