ECCAC Volunteer Orientation in
DeFuniak Springs on September 13

DeFuniak Springs, FL (August 18, 2022)…The Emerald Coast Children’s Advocacy Center’s (ECCAC) Pierce Family Center in DeFuniak Springs is in need of volunteers. They will be hosting a Volunteer Orientation and Information Tours on Tuesday, September 13th from 6 – 7 pm. The Center is located at 336 College Avenue. Or, individual orientation appointments can be arranged.

Front desk reception volunteers are needed. The front desk is staffed entirely by volunteers so staff can be free to assist the children and families through the process of healing. Volunteers are the first people the children and visitors see when they step into the center. These volunteers are responsible for meet and greets, monitoring children while parents and caregivers are meeting with staff, as well as baking cookies and answering phones. Volunteers are needed for all of the three shifts: 8 to 11 am, 11 am to 2 pm, or 2 - 5 p.m. Those interested are required to be 18 or older, attend a training class, be fingerprinted and undergo a background check.

Ana Michalzik, Volunteer & Event Coordinator added, “Join us for an evening of light snacks and refreshments and learn about ECCAC. We invite potential volunteers to hear about our DeFuniak Springs Center, and how they can be a part of helping our area children who are experiencing abuse and neglect. This is especially important now since we are seeing more children at the Pierce Family Center due to the fact that our Niceville Center is undergoing restoration and temporarily closed due to flood damage that happened in July.”

The Center doesn’t house children, but house a multidisciplinary team of child protection personnel, prosecutors, law enforcement, DCF, therapists, ECCAC staff and volunteers. The 501-C-3 non-profit organization has provided more than 170,000 services at no cost to 15,000+ children over the past 23 years in Walton and Okaloosa Counties.

For further information, visit www.eccac.org, Or, call or email Ana Michalzik at 850-420-4639, volunteer@eccac.org. If you plan on attending, please rsvp to Ana. If abuse is suspected, call the anonymous Florida Abuse Hotline at 1-800-96-ABUSE.
