That's nothing compared to what's coming to Bay Loop and Hwy 20.

In addition there's phase III of Sanctuary and then some more apartments across the street.

The apartments in the OP have been approved by the Walton County Technical Review Committee (TRC).

Includes 20-year commitment for 52 units to be "affordable" for applicants at 120% of average median income (AMI) for the area. Amounting to about $300-$400 reduction in rent compared to the other apartments, according to developer.

Sounds like they still will be too expensive for most workers to afford to live in the area- my son just signed a lease in Austin Texas, brand new complex - didn't realize it was the units for "affordable income housing" he had to have an income of 88,000 a year , he is 26 , the normal income had to be 120,000 a year. I was a little shocked to say the least. Wonder what the average median income is for Walton Co.?

Affordable housing program eligibility is always determined by one's income. Each household's income is compared to the incomes of all other households in the area. This is accomplished through a statistic established by the government called the Area Median Income, most often referred to as AMI. The AMI is calculated and published each year by HUD.

In Walton County, HUD calculates the Area Median Income for a family of four as $85,300

Most affordable housing programs determine eligibility based on the percent of AMI a given household's income is. Among the programs that determine eligibility based on the AMI are Section 8, HOME, LIHTC, Section 515, 202 and 811.
