BLESSED BE THE PEACEMAKERS: It's with a heavy heart the Walton County Sheriff's Office announces the passing of long time WCSO Lieutenant Dewey Adams. Lt. Adams passed away suddenly while asleep in his home Sunday.

Lt. Adams was a committed law enforcement professional who always went out of his way to help others and was loved by all who knew him. Please keep Lt. Adam's family, friends, and Walton County Sheriff's Office family in your thoughts and prayers.

We will make an announcement when arrangements are made. Thank you.

Dewey was a wonderful man and good friend and will be missed. People remember the on-duty deaths but far more LEO's are taken from us this way. The job is not easy and the pressure is enormous. Please pray for his family as they face this terrible tragedy.

The public can pay their respects at a visitation Thursday evening, October 8th, from 6 to 8 PM at First Baptist Church in DeFuniak Springs.

Funeral services for Lt. Dewey Adams will be Friday, October 9th at 1:00 PM at First Baptist Church with full military honors by the United States Marine Corps and the Walton County Sheriff’s Honor Guard. His remains will be cremated.

Lt. Adams was 50.
