Any equestrian communities around the area? 5 - 10 acre sites that have a common barn with riding trails?

now that's brilliant, but nobody here with the vision to do that yet! they make a big stink if they have 1/2 acre sites and a 10x10 park in most places.
believe me, despite the current scenario, they'd sell out of those really quickly!

There has been discussion at Owls Head regarding a common horse barn with riding trails. Owls Head is a huge beautiful pristine property that would be ideal for horseback riding.

I've already checked out the St. Joe properties. They sound beautiful, but really wonder if they'll ever take off. Also, want to stay close to Grayton. Remember, I live in Atlanta so close to me is within an hour. Owl's Head would be wonderful. I'd grab that in a minute. Keep me posted if anything comes up. Thanks!

There were plans for something like that in the Mossy Head area (between Crestview and DeFuniak Springs) but last I heard the developer was getting himself in trouble for essentially putting a residential project into an area zoned agricultural, so I'm not sure if the development's going to go forward.

I believe there is one up near Paxton, North Walton...perhaps someone else remembers the details. I heard about it a few months ago...

OK- I have been dying to ask this- does anyone on the board ride? If so, where do you ride? And where do people board their horses? Or is it just too hot here in the summer to enjoy it?

There has to be somewhere close by where you can find horses, because half the listings on VRBO say that that's one of the amenities, horseback riding. And Grayton Beach State Park has trails. So where do you find the horses???

In Bruce (about 15 miles east of Freeport), they have started an equestrian development called The Stables at Sandy Pines. The fencing is up around the entire property, roads are done, etc. I think they start out at 5 acre tracts, but there are 10 acre tracts. The property is very nice, we have looked at it. They will have an equetrian center as well.
