Hi...new resident here. I was wondering if anyone has used the Boys and Girls club of South Walton and what experiences they have had. I am considering it for my 4th grader. Is it a diverse group of kids? Is it mostly local kids? I am hoping he will meet some new friends and have a good time in a safe environment. Any input on your experiences is appreciated.
Thanks!

My oldest daughter has been attending BGC of South Walton for four years, including the summer program. I am extremely pleased with the program despite some staffing issues and billing inadequacies.

The new building (!) should be opened sometime this summer. This should provide a much better site for the kids and allow many new activities.

The summer program is very good. Since the club has its own bus, they are able to take a lot of field trips. And the cost is extremely reasonable.

I assisted a volunteer there several times. They require thorough screening for volunteers. (a big plus in this day and age.)

They have a very fine after school program. The proctors and employees see to it all students finish their homework. Afterwards there is positive play time. Lots of indoor and outdoor games.

Great socialization. An atmosphere of kindness. Very sweet children go there. They all get along. It's very nice.

They measure academic improvement and manage behavior really well. They do art projects. Great interaction with parents.

Etc. Etc. Etc.
