This Autumn, diners can look forward to all-things cozy at Hotel Effie at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort (think - apple, pumpkin, cinnamon and pear) as the hotel restaurants combine a fine-dining experience with warm southern hospitality in Miramar Beach.
See below for a summary of eateries on-property, all curated by James Beard Award-winning chef Hugh Acheson. Chef Acheson has led an esteemed culinary career, having earned great recognition for his talent, including being a judge on “Top Chef.”
Defining coastal luxury like never before, Hotel Effie is located in the Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort. Check out all Hotel Effie has to offer at hoteleffie.com. Follow on Facebook for updates.
Ovide
Ovide at Hotel Effie draws on local and Gulf Coast flavors with French influence. Characteristically elegant with a picturesque ceiling floral mural, guests are immediately immersed in Effie’s artistically inspired dining room and chef Acheson’s kitchen. A couple of guest favorites include the Farm Egg, made with crisp rice, collard stem kimchi, spring onion, peas, and oyster mushroom, as well as Steamed Littleneck Clams, made with shallot, parsley, dry vermouth and Calabrian chile.
Ara Rooftop Pool & Lounge
Ara Rooftop Pool & Lounge at Hotel Effie is named after the southern constellation and is the only hotel with a rooftop pool on the Emerald Coast. Ara provides a chic vibe and panoramic views of the Choctawhatchee Bay and Gulf -- perfect for catching the sunset and listening to live music outdoors. Groups can relish in the refreshing temperatures from the rooftop lounge around the pool area in cabanas or from the bar, and even challenge each other to a game of life-size chess, Connect 4 or cornhole. An Instagrammable mural depicting the moon and stars ties the space together with a fun photo-op. Drinks include the special Apples to Apples cocktail, made with apple brandy, apple cider honey syrup, angostura bitters, cardamom bitters, lemon juice, and garnished with a cinnamon stick and lemon wheel; bites range from the Classic Gulf Shrimp Cocktail to a shareable Cheese Board.
The Lobby Bar
Another option for a quick bite, The Lobby Bar has an elegant gathering space to chat and sip on signature craft cocktails created by mixologist Kellie Thorn. Thorn has worked closely with Acheson, and her talent earned her a spot in 2018’s Wine Enthusiast 40 under 40 Tastemakers. One of her specialty drinks is the 20th Century, made with gin, crème de cacao, americano bianco and lemon. Patrons can also enjoy shareable platters like the Cheese Board and Roasted Gulf Oysters made in Rockefeller style.
Sweetbay Coffee
Quaint and welcoming Sweetbay Coffee serves drinks, baked goods and pastries to kick off the day or indulge in an afternoon snack. Visitors can take their snacks outside and immerse themselves in the crisp coastal air without bugs being a bother in peaceful nature trails or a walk to the beach. Some offerings include Effie’s Biscuits, a tribute to owner Thomas Becnel’s grandmother Effie, with whipped butter and sorghum, as well as other light snacks and coffee, tea, juices and hot chocolate. Effie’s hospitality is evident throughout the eateries in the hotel -- even with the rocking chair between them.
