After SoWal, this is one of our favorite places in Florida and we have stayed in this unit a couple of times. It's an easy drive from SoWal, Georgia, South Carolina, etc. Amelia Island has many state parks with beaches, marshes, rivers, trails . . .
Fernandina Beach is a small town between the beach and the river, lots of old buildings and houses line the historic downtown along the waterfront. A short ferry ride to Cumberland Island where you can see wild horses on the beach and dolphins along the way.
This condo unit borders Fort Clinch State Park - it has amazing trails, a 7-mile oak-covered drive, fishing pier, and one of the largest forts of its kind.
On the other side is an oceanfront park with volleyball, picnic tables and shelters, putt putt, an oceanfront restaurant/bar, and skatepark. Nearby is Amelia Island Plantation with first-class golf.
Fernandina Beach has an amazing collection of restaurants for a town so small - much like SoWal. I highly recommend Le Clos, Espana, Bonito, Marina Restaurant, Arte Pizza (wood-fired pizza and perfect pasta), and Lanna Thai.
